I qualified as a teacher with a BA (Hons) Degree in 2014, and after 3 years of teaching in a primary setting, I decided I wanted to specialise in SEN. I completed a Master's Degree in Dyslexia and SpLDs 2018 before working in a Secondary Independent Boarding School, teaching Year 9- Year 11, for 5 years as a 1:1 Learning Support Teacher. I realised that I wanted to advance my career further and completed a PGCert in Education (Dyscalculia) 2021. I am a holder of Dyslexia AMBDA and an Assessment Practising Certificate (BDA). I am looking forward to studying another Master's Degree in Psychology in September so that I can advance my knowledge of individual human differences and neurodiversity further.
It is my ultimate goal to facilitate the engagement and enjoyment of mathematics for students of all ages. Having completed my master's dissertation in Maths Anxiety, I have an astute understanding of this detrimental barrier to maths achievement, and it is my number one priority to remove the fear that some students experience. I am passionate about changing students' perceptions of mathematics and finding strategies to support their learning in order to accelerate progress.
I am excited to join the Dyscalculia Network to assess and support further learners with dyscalculia.
